Gillian Waters has extensive experience of marketing across a range of sectors and currently owns her own company – Floyd Marketing – working with SMEs and NFP organisations across a range of strategic marketing, project management and business development projects. Since 1996, she has combined her practitioner activities and strong academic background with the role of CIM Examiner. Initially she was a member of Marketing Operations and MMIP teams, and since 2009 has been Senior Examiner Representative PMiM on the Professional Diploma, in addition to a range of acting senior and moderator roles across the qualifications levels for standard and interim exam boards.
A graduate of SOAS (University of London) where she specialised in the Middle East and China, Gill worked in defence prior to taking a career break. As a ‘managing mum’ (now retired J) Gill has experience of a range of sectors, including IT, Logistics & Supply Chain Management Consultancy, and Not-For-Profit organisations, typically problem solving and/or change management to move SMEs to the next stage of growth. She has combined this with visiting lecturing posts in International Marketing, Management and HRM-related subjects at a range of institutions, including Henley Business School @ the University of Reading. In addition to the above, pre-career break experience includes the City, manufacturing and a brief stint as a ‘concierge’ in the Haute Pyrenees where she developed a lifelong passion for French cuisine and wine.
One of the original cohort of Chartered Marketers, Gill is a Fellow of CIM, has the PG Diploma in Marketing, MBA (OU) and a teaching qualification in non-compulsory further and higher education. Future projects include completing Diploma in Digital Marketing (with Oxford College of Marketing), starting a long-cherished PhD, and writing ‘the novel’!
