Giovanna Battiston is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Sheffield Business School at Sheffield Hallam University where she teaches global marketing, strategic marketing, and product innovation and creativity to final year undergraduates and post-graduates. Previously, Giovanna spent ten years as a freelance marketer and during this time her responsibilities included being the centre manager for Oxford College of Marketing in Yorkshire and Liverpool.
Giovanna started her career in the publishing department of the Thomas Cook Group where she reported to the new product development manager. She then moved into a marketing role and spent several years with a national HR consultancy whose client base included various plcs. Giovanna is currently the CIM Regional Chair for Yorkshire.
Giovanna holds a PGCE to teach in the post-compulsory sector, an MSc in Marketing Management, and the CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. She has been a chartered marketer since 2002 and is currently studying for an educational doctorate (EdD). Her research interests are around investigating the writing skills of marketers.
