Scott Jones is a Lecturer in Marketing and the Course Leader for the MSc International Marketing at Sheffield Hallam University. Scott previously enjoyed a career in variety of roles and sectors. This includes Marketing Assistant with Innocent, worked as a Cinema Manager and trouble shooter with the Odeon cinema chain and experienced life as a Commercial Manager with BAE Systems in Lancashire, before settling on his true passion – teaching and lecturing in Marketing.
Scott currently specialises in the delivery of marketing at undergraduate and postgraduate level where he teaches Strategic Marketing Management, Managing Markets and is the Dissertation lead on the MSc International Marketing. Scott holds a PGCE to teach in the post-compulsory sector and also a PGCE to teach in Higher Education. Scott completed his CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing in 2010 and achieved his MA in Marketing and Public Relations in 2013. For his dissertation, Scott explored ‘Gamification’ as a marketing tool. As digital marketing presence has continued to rise, the concept of using video game elements in marketing has gained traction and the term gamification. Scott is expecting to start his PhD in September 2015 where the focus will be brand hijack by consumers and the reputation risks this may carry for brands and brand mascots.
