Steve Parker has been involved in teaching for the past 12 years, mainly for two colleges. His speciality area is Supply Chain Management (CIPS), but he has delivered other courses such as Knowledge Management, Project Management, Decision Making and general Business Studies.
He is a firm believer in the strategic role that Procurement plays in many organisations and hence the importance of developing skills levels within the profession. Many organisations now recognise that their competitiveness depends on their management and the quality of their supply chains.
His career before teaching was in a variety of industries including utilities, engineering, healthcare and particularly oil distribution (where the company expanded three-fold to a £350m turnover). As well as managing Purchasing and Supply activities, both products and services, he has had responsibility for customer services and quality management.
Steve is a qualified teacher and has been a Member of CIPS for more years than he cares to remember.
