The college was founded in 1997 by Rosie Phipps as a response to the inadequate provision of marketing education being provided by many of the Further Education Colleges, locally and nationally.
Rosie started off with training for the marketing profession using the brand name Oxford College of Marketing and extended the training to included other business disciplines such as purchasing, management, sales, short courses which eventually fell under the umbrella brand – Oxford Professional Education Group.
The college grew from one site to delivering training over 20 sites by face to face tuition and distance learning.
Rosie created one of the first colleges to use the latest online technology to deliver learning at the time. She then went on to establish Oxford Learning Lab and ensured that students at the college and internationally were able to access videos made by top professors and experts lecture on their area of expertise.
The 35 students in the first year grew to 1200 and Jane Young, who had been working with Rosie for the last 12 years, who took over the college in 2014, has continued to be fuelled by the original vision they developed and has grown the college to 2000 students extended over 18 sites, providing over 210 courses. The college, over the last 20 years has continued to provide in-house and online and face to face training for top companies and at a guess is probably responsible for over 30% of professional marketers practicing today. And continues to achieve some of the best exam results in the country averaging about 85 % pass rates for the last 20 years.
Rosie is still living in Oxford and mostly involved in writing and painting, she exhibits her pictures locally. You can see her work at www.rosiephippsart.com.
