Free Project Management Qualification

All delegates who choose to undertake their CIM or CIPR qualifications with us, will have the option of studying a free project management qualification as well. Delegates can choose between either the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification* (PFQ), the AgilePM Foundation or the PRINCE2 Foundation.

These courses provide a great introduction to project management skills, which tie in nicely to wider marketing roles. If you would like to gain the full project management qualification, you will just need to pay the assessment and/or book fees associated with your chosen course.

Course Structure

The Certificate in Profession Digital Marketing is made up of three modules; Applied Marketing (mandatory)Planning Campaigns (mandatory) and Digital Marketing Techniques. The units can be studied in any order and the elective module selected will determine the qualification you gain. You can download the full syllabus here.

Two modules within the qualification (Planning Campaigns and Digital Marketing Techniques) are assessed by a work-based assignment, including a portfolio. You will work with your allocated personal tutor, who will assist you in addressing any questions you have as well as providing feedback on a plan and draft assessment you produce.

The Applied Marketing unit within this qualification is assessed by a multiple-choice examination. To support students for this assessment, we ask you to submit homework and mock exam to help you prepare for the exam. This will also require you to book your examination with the CIM at a local exam centre. For students who wish to take their exam outside of the UK, there may be an additional charge for this

Planning Campaigns

This is a mandatory module across both the Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing and Certificate in Professional Marketing. It is designed to give you the required knowledge and skills to implement effective marketing campaigns. The module will equip you with the skills to undertake a successful campaign audit before setting suitable campaign objectives. You will learn how to develop effective campaign tactics, integrating online and offline media, as well as how to measure campaign success. This unit is assessment through a practical work-based assignment.

Applied Marketing

This module is mandatory across both Level 4 Certificate qualifications. The unit will provide you with an understanding of the key theories within marketing and the role it has within an organisation. You will gain a practical understanding of how to capture information and research to make better marketing decisions as well as how the marketing mix can be applied and adapted to suit a range of businesses. The marketing module is assessed through a multiple-choice examination.

Digital Marketing Techniques

Digital Marketing Techniques is an elective module for the CIM Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing. The module is designed to build your knowledge of digital tools and techniques as well as how they can be applied in practice. Students will learn how to successfully integrate online and offline media as well as develop an effective digital marketing plan. This module is assessed by a work-based portfolio assessment.

Entry Requirements

The Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing is equivalent to a foundation degree and is designed for marketing assistants and executives or those with marketing as part of their job role.

Most students who study at this level have either a relevant Level 3 qualification or have worked in a marketing role for at least a year.

Course Start Dates

The modules that encompass the Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing modules can be studied in any order. Delegates can start class-room based courses in September, January or May, while online distance learning can be started at any time.


The Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing course starts from £433.33 + VAT per module for distance learning, £633.33 + VAT per module for virtual learning, and £676.67 + VAT per module for classroom-based learning.

Please Note: Your CIM membership and assessment fees are not included in the course costs. However, we do provide support and access to the course materials for up to 3 years.

Study Options

The CIM Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing can be studied via three flexible study methods: virtual classes, face-to-face classes, and pure distance-learning:

Virtual Classes

Our virtual classes are live sessions which are delivered by our expert course tutors over Zoom – combining the convenience of online studying with the interaction of live classes.

We are currently offering virtual evening-classes (18:30-20:30 one evening per week), virtual weekend-classes (09:30-12:30 across four weekend workshops) and virtual afternoon-classes (14:30-16:30 one afternoon per week).

Face-To-Face Classes

Our face-to-face classes are delivered by experienced trainers at our 20 UK study centres. We offer part-time evening classes (18:00-21:00 one evening per week) and Intensive Weekend Classes (09:30-17:00 over one full weekend per module).

Delegates who study via our face-to-face classes will also receive access to our online learning platform and course materials.

Distance Learning

For delegates who are unable to commit to our live classes, we offer a highly flexible distance-learning package, allowing you to study at your own pace.

Fast-track Study Options

For delegates who have more time or wish to complete their studies in a shorter period, we offer several flexible, fast-track, fully supported study routes.
