The CIM Diploma in Sustainable Marketing is a new level 6 course, equivalent to an undergraduate degree, for marketers who wish to deepen their knowledge around how marketing and the associated activities can lead and support the sustainability challenges faced by organisations.
The qualification will appeal to those in a supervisory or operational role, who are concerned with sustainability and who are keen to drive change within their organisation. Their organisation may be at the start of their sustainability journey or already implementing sustainable policies and responses through the marketing function.
As with all Diploma level courses, all delegates are invited to complete our Marketing Gateway Programme as a pre-course to the Diploma in Sustainable Marketing.
If you have already completed the Diploma in Professional Marketing or the Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing qualifications, you will have exemptions from the Diploma in Sustainable Marketing. The Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing will give you an exemption from the Marketing Digital Strategy module and the Diploma in Professional Marketing will give you exemptions from the Marketing Digital Strategy and the Innovation in Marketing modules.

Course Structure
The course consists of three mandatory modules: Marketing Digital Strategy, Innovation in Marketing and Sustainability.
Marketing & Digital Strategy
This module forms the base of all CIM level 6 Diploma qualifications and is a mandatory module for the Diploma in Professional Marketing, Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing and the Diploma in Sustainable Marketing. The module focuses on the planning process, undertaking a marketing audit, objective setting, strategy, tactics and resource planning.
Innovation in Marketing
Innovation within the marketing environment is key to drive competitive advantage. This module develops knowledge, skills and understanding of how to drive innovation and disruption within an organisation and how to lead and cultivate an innovative culture.
Sustainability
Sustainability and climate change effect everyone and all facets of life. Understanding the role that we and marketing can play within the crucial pursuit of global environmental sustainability is critical. This module assesses the organisations societal commitments and determines appropriate customer focused approaches to the sustainability challenge. It also evaluates stakeholder collaboration, the resource required to deliver value driven and profitable solutions and how these solutions can be measured.
Qualification Assessment
Each module is assessed by a work-based practical assignment. There are three assessment boards a year in April, July, September and December. You will need to book your assessments directly with the CIM. The CIM do have strict booking deadlines; however, the College will remind you of these dates.
The College produces internal study timetables to assist you in completing your assessments and CIM qualification within an 18-month period. You will work with a highly experienced personal tutor, who will support you through the assessment process and answer any queries you may have. Your personal tutor will provide you with feedback on both an initial assignment plan and subsequent draft to maximise your opportunities for success with your assignment.
