The Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing is designed for students of all ages who may be completely new to marketing or have no formal qualifications. The course can be completed in just six months and enables delegates to progress to the Certificate in Professional Marketing, then to the Diploma in Professional Marketing and finally the Marketing Leadership Programme, gaining Chartered Marketer status.
This qualification is designed to provide an introduction to marketing and the role it plays within an organisation. Students will develop an understanding of basic terminology and concepts used within marketing as well as how the various elements of marketing communications apply.

Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing Results
The Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing is made up of two units; one mandatory unit, Marketing Principles and one elective module, Communications in Practice which can be studied in any order. The elective module in this qualification is assessed via a practical work-based assessment, and the mandatory module is assessed via a multiple-choice examination, which can be booked and sat entirely online via remote proctoring.
You will work with an experienced personal tutor during this time who will assist you in completing your assessments and CIM qualification. They will guide you through the assessment process and our study timetable, answering any questions you have. Additionally, to support students for the exam-based assessment, we ask you to submit homework and a mock exam to help you prepare for the exam.
There are four assessment boards each year in April, July, September, and December. You will need to book your assessments directly with the CIM. There are strict booking deadlines enforced by CIM, but the College will remind you of these.
This mandatory module is shared across both the Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing and the Foundation Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing. The module provides you with an understanding of the basic theory and practice of marketing. You will learn about changing consumer behaviour, the key elements of the marketing environment, as well as the theory and application of the marketing mix.
The Marketing Principles module within the course is assessed by a multiple-choice examination. This exam can now be booked and sat entirely online through remote proctoring.
For students wishing to take their exam outside of the UK, there may be an additional charge.
Communications in Practice
Communications in Practice is an elective module for the Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing. This module will provide students with a practical understanding of communications techniques. You will gain the knowledge and skills to implement effective customer communications with a range of audiences through the production of an outline communications plan. This module is assessed by a case-study based assessment.
