The Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing is designed for those who may be completely new to marketing or have no formal qualifications. This CIM Level 3 qualification can be completed in just six months and will enable you to progress to the Certificate in Professional Marketing.

This qualification provides an introduction to marketing and the role it plays within an organisation. You will develop an understanding of basic terminology and concepts used within marketing, as well as how the various elements of marketing communications apply.

The Level 3 Foundation also carries UCAS points, with up to 24 points available depending on the grade you achieve.

What’s Involved

To gain the Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing qualification, you will need to complete two modules.

Marketing Principles (mandatory module)

This module is mandatory across both the Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing and the Foundation Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing. You will gain an understanding of the basic theory and practice of marketing, including consumer behaviour, the marketing environment, and the marketing mix.

It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination, which can be sat online through remote proctoring. For students wishing to take their exam outside of the UK, there may be an additional charge.

Communications in Practice (elective module)

This module will give you a practical understanding of communications techniques used in marketing. You will gain the knowledge and skills to implement effective communications activities and produce an outline communications plan. This module is assessed by a case-study assignment.
