The CIPR Foundation is the ideal entry level qualification if you are an aspiring PR professional who wants to move into the industry for the first time. Or you could already have some experience in PR but wish to consolidate your skills through an accredited, professional qualification.

This level 3 qualification (similar to A-level standard) will develop your understanding of how to create engaging content for both traditional and digital media outlets platforms. The CIPR Foundation course will also explore how PR supports organisational objectives, and how it operates alongside related disciplines such as marketing and communications. The qualification takes between 3 and 6 months to complete.

The Foundation Award can be studied via either distance learning or virtual classes. If you choose to study via online distance learning, you can start at any time. If you choose virtual classes, there are various start dates throughout the year; January, April, July and October.

What’s Involved

The CIPR Foundation is composed of two key components.

Component 1: PR Skills and Content Creation

This will enable you to identify and target the different audiences and stakeholders an organisation might want to engage. You will learn the key principles of storytelling and narrative, as well as how to identify, produce and adapt news stories across a range of platforms. This unit is assessed by assignment.

Component 2: The Role of the PR Practitioner

This component explains the role of PR within an organisation. You will explore the contribution PR makes to an organisation’s key objectives, the way PR practitioners interact with other disciplines, and their responsibility to operate ethically. This unit is assessed by assignment.
