Student

The CIPR Public Relations and Communications Foundation is composed of two key components.

Component 1

This component focuses on the role of public relations and communication within an organisation.

During this component, you will produce a 1000-word discussion paper which demonstrates how the portfolio of content helps to deliver the objectives of the PR team within the organisation.

This component looks at:

  • the contribution that PR practitioners make to the organisation’s key objectives.
  • the way PR practitioners interact with other disciplines.
  • the responsibility to operate ethically.
  • keeping your skills and knowledge up to date, through continuing professional development (CPD).

Component 2

In this component, you will produce a 1000-word portfolio of written/audio visual content, to build and support a positive reputation for an organisation.

This component looks at:

  • the different types of content produced by PR practitioners.
  • how to target content for particular stakeholders, audiences and channels.
  • developing your practical content creation skills.

The two component assessments must be based around a single organisation. This can be:

a real organisation

or

your own employer, or another organisation known to you (eg: an organisation where you volunteer).

There are no formal entry requirements for undertaking the CIPR Foundation course.

I recently finished my studies for a level 6 digital marketing and have had a great experience with Oxford college of marketing. My only complaint is that you get a new tutor for each unit and each tutor was asking me to format my coursework in a different way from the last which was quite time consuming and had me worried at times that I had formatted the previous unit wrong. This was only a minor part of my course however and everything else was great from the platform used, support, webinars, downloads and more. I loved how it was manageable to balance with my work which meant I could stay in full-time work during my studies.

I have completed 2 courses with this study centre and they are brilliant. The tutors are great, they push you to do the best you can and challenge you when they know you have more to give. The courses are tough, you really have to apply yourself - it's not something to take on half-heartedly. But if you throw yourself into it they will support you right to the end.
