The CIPR Professional PR Certificate aims to introduce delegates to the context, concepts, and tools of PR that will develop their knowledge and confidence within the discipline. Upon completing this qualification, learners will be well placed to move into PR roles such as PR Account Manager, PR & Communications Manager and PR and Events Manager.

This level 5 qualification, taught at foundation degree level, is well suited to individuals who already have some prior knowledge and/or experience within PR either through work experience or previous study.

The CIPR Professional PR Certificate can be studied through online distance learning, virtual classes, or blended face to face classes and take between 10 and 12 months to complete.

Course Structure

PR in Context: Research and Planning

  • Delegates will learn about the role that PR plays in organisations and society and how to develop an effective PR plan

  • Delegates will also consider the practical challenges of running successful PR campaigns and will learn how to effectively research, plan, and execute the PR strategy of their chosen organisation

Content, Media and Engagement

  • Delegates will learn about creating and managing communication channels, with a focus on both traditional and digital PR channels

  • Learn how to create and manage effective PR communication strategies, how individual and groups react and respond to PR activities and how PR can affect that response

  • Learners will also develop their understanding of the impact that technology has on PR activities. Delegates will be introduced to the role that social media plays in developing a successful PR strategy, the creation of ethical and compelling content, storytelling, content curation and interpreting and using data effectively

Measurement, evaluation, and professional ethics

  • Delegates will learn about the ethical considerations of developing PR plans and evaluating the success of PR activities

  • This final unit focuses on the delivery of communication and PR activities; and how they are managed, monitored, and measured, including the contrasting roles of consultancy and in-house professionals

Assessment

Each unit from the CIPR Professional Certificate is assessed, and each assessment needs to be passed to gain the full Certificate. The assessments are:

  • 2,000-word PR plan and 500-word statement of reflection

  • Two 1,000-word reports building on the Unit 1 assessment and a 500-word statement of reflection

  • 1,500-word executive report, 500-word statement of reflection and 500-word discussion on ethical and legal decisions involved in planning, developing, writing, executing and evaluating the project covered in the three-unit assignments. This assessment builds on the plan developed in Unit 1 and the report and piece of writing developed in Unit 2.

This qualification is ideal for graduates who are looking to pursue a career in PR, or candidates with at least 1 years’ experience in a junior PR role.

Pricing

The price of the CIPR Certificate starts from £990 + VAT for pure distance-learning, £1,200 + VAT for virtual-learning and £1,350 for face-to-face classroom learning.

There is an additional cost of £885 for CIPR registration and assessment.

Study Options

The CIPR Certificate can be studied via pure distance-learning, face to face at one of our venues or via virtual classes. With pure distance-learning, delegates can get started on the course at any time and are free to work through the online materials at their own pace. Virtual-learning classes are delivered by expert PR tutors over Zoom and face to face classes delivered at one of our venues. All delegates have full access to the online learning system for a comprehensive learning experience.
