Kara Stanford is a Strategic Marketing Consultant running two marketing businesses: KMS Marketing and The Marketing Spaces.
Her structured, focused approach to reviewing, planning, and implementing marketing is backed up by sound marketing theories. These are tempered with a dose of practical reality – SMEs don’t have the budgets that marketing textbooks are written for and often can’t invest in their staff the way big firms can.
She began her career at LloydsTSB working on a range of projects. These included: product research, development, and launch; internal change management programmes; and working with other Marketing Teams to develop MarComms for product relaunches, promotion, and sales.
Kara then moved to the public sector. As Avon Fire and Rescue Service’s first Marketing Manager, she pioneered the infant techniques of social marketing and implemented key Internal Communication strategies.
In 2006, she became a Business Consultant, working with over 20 organisations in the public and private sector. She used process improvement, performance management, learning and development and marketing and communication techniques to bring about organisational change.
Kara is a Chartered Marketer (CIM).
She set up her own business, KMS Marketing, in 2013 and has been a lively and engaging tutor with Oxford College of Marketing since 2015. Seeing a need in the market, she established ‘The Marketing Spaces’ in November 2020.
This provides an online space for ambitious marketers to come to learn and organise their thoughts around marketing, so they can be more structured, focused, and effective in their jobs.
